How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the FD principal.
  2. Enter the annual interest rate.
  3. Enter the tenure.
  4. Select the compounding frequency used by your assumption.

FD calculator example: ₹1 lakh for 3 years

At an assumed 7% annual interest rate compounded quarterly, a ₹1,00,000 deposit would mature to approximately ₹1,23,144 after three years before tax.

Banks may use different product terms, payout options and rounding. Tax on interest and premature-closure penalties are not included.

Calculation methodology

The FD estimate uses compound interest with the frequency selected by the user. The formula is principal × (1 + annual rate / compounding frequency)^(frequency × years).

Formula / calculation model

FV = P × (1 + r/m)^(m×t), where m is the assumed compounding frequency.

Important assumptions and limitations

Banks may use product-specific compounding, payout and rounding conventions. Tax on interest and premature-closure penalties are not included.
